Glow Worm Tunnel
A truly spectacular experience! This abandoned rail-tunnel was originally built to guide carraiges of shale through the mountains. The steam trains engines are long since idle and now the tunnel affords visitors with a stella-like visual treat. Thousands-upon-thousands of glow worms have made this place home in the damp, cool, darkness – but don’t forget to take a torch so you can find your way out!
Dargan Swamp
Another tribute to the mining efforts of centuries past, this dam was built to supply steam engines with the water needed to carry their precious cargo up the steep valleys. This is good place to stop and take a swim if you are passing by or don’t want to expend much energy getting to a bush water hole. Turn off Bells Line of Road past Bell at Dargan signage.
